Tried to go into East Tulim for about three days, and then stopped playing. Then started again. Then, I tried to attack anything in sight, including snakes, and black scorpions.

(that's when I was lvl 2)
Now I'm level 52. I run around, try to attack anything in sight, and run the heck away.

I started playing tmw around the time the mouboo hats came out. Maybe a bit before. I first ran into TMW from a maximum pc magazine that had a disk. I had kind of a cruddy computer at the time. I installed tmw from a list of other games I could have downloaded. The client was really old. Anyways It did not work so I did not think anything of it, UnInstalled it. After a few weeks I updated my drivers put in a new graphics card and connected to the Internet. When I got into the game I was just walking around killing maggots to level and scorpions. Than someone came up to me and said Hello there how can I help you? Me, not knowing it had something to do with me being connected to the Internet, was like omg this game has awesome AI. Thats my epic fail noob moment. The first people I met were doorsman and melkior they helped me get my scythe short-sword and bone knife than a player named weeer helped me get a cowboy hat and chaps. I could keep going tell I became a developer because I have allot of noob moments but I wont.

instead of trolling this thread as was my original intention, i think i'll share a story that i hope you'll agree is just as heart warming as it is hilarious. well actually, it isn't a story, but more or less a series of anecdotes, or a highlight reel.
first day i was playing, Parn gave me a forest bow. the next day, i found my way to hurnscald chilled there for a bit, roleplaying, before realizing that people didn't do that here and promptly cussed out DarkLord for being a douche to noobs. the funniest thing i can remember from being a noob was when in my 40s and managed to buy 80 iron powder for 20k. this was back when it was 1k a piece for iron powder. so i rejoiced at my great fortune in finding such a deal, and immediately went to the mines; started pwning those dastardly skulls that had been killing me all the time, while yelling at them. things like: "EAT MY LIGHTNING, B****!" and the timeless "HOW'S IT TASTE, MOTHERF****R?!?!"

Well, we already have a "How did you come here" thread started by yours truly, but who cares:

I found TMW on happypenguin, thought "zomfg Secret of Mana MMORPG", played it alone on Elvens home server (No one else online). You could walk around a bit, and if you placed your character between 3 stones you warped to another map. w00t! All with ripped SoM graphics of course. Then a update came, the teleporter went away :(
Another update, no more copyrighted graphics, nice desert graphics, smaller map, some monsters, yay! Next update, sucky upscaled graphics, still one desert map, but you could buy a cotton shirt (which you couldnt actually see because visible equipment was only implemented ~1-2 years later) if you killed maggots for some hours (like i did), some updates later, cotton shirt was free, some updates later new playerset, yay, some updates later, big competition with soap who gets 100 treasure keys first, and woosh 4 years later, and we are here.

Oh, and somewhere inbetween the graphic files started to get stored outside the TMW binary (yay) and the awesome edit.exe got replaced by XML and tiled.
