manamarket

Post by prsm »

Manamarket is an official bot approved by the GHP.

Since it is a bot (that helps players) it obviously cant move on its own. Players
that are found standing on manamarket will be moved! If you feel like moving back,
you may be kicked or even banned.

I made this official to stop people from "pushing the boundaries".

Manamarket is here to help, not be abused!

I'm not involved in whatever happened, I barely log on these days; but, I did log on just now to test a couple things.

1) You can use Q to toggle between players -- including bots like ManaMarket -- (the same way you toggle between NPCs with N), and then use T to bring up the buy / sell dialog for the selected player or bot.

2) You can use the /w ManaMarket !commands or !commands in the ManaMarket whisper tab to interact with it directly. The commands are listed here: http://wiki.themanaworld.org/index.php/ManaMarket

In case a GM is not on, I believe players can use these measures to interact with friendly bots like ManaMarket, even if they are obstructed. I hope this helps.

P.S. These measures work 100% with Manaplus. I haven't tested the Mana-client but I'm pretty sure that at least /w ManaMarket !commands work there, as well.

Might be good to know as well If there is no GM online at the time and you're having trouble using Manamarket feel free to use the online list on Manaplus to whisper it instead, by clicking on its name rather than click on the character itself.

what blackrazor said :)

Recent versions of manaplus also allow you too right click on a stack of characters,playing or non playing and choose the one you need to perform some action:

Yes, there are ways of interacting with ManaMarket even if a player is standing on him.

Nevertheless, I agree with prsm, a player who deliberately choses ManaMarket's tile again and again apparently has very probably the sole intention of annoying other players, so if they get kicked I guess they had it coming...

Why not remove collision from a tile next to the storage master and move manamarket there? Then there is no need for this rule.

@Ablu great idea :)

The problem is not how to interact with an npc when someone is blocking us, the topic is about players who stand on ManaMarket to abuse other players and sell their items. So until we fix this problem and Manamarket is moved to a better place we will keep kicking players who stand on him.

1) The topic is manamarket and I feel everyone has contributed politely and constructively.

2) Nobody is telling the GMs what to do. That is reserved for Platyna and the GHP.

3) Some players have made helpful suggestions for what a player can do to still use ManaMarket (even if the bot is obstructed), when GMs are not online to help, which is inevitable.

4) Personally, I once complained to a GM when an NPC was blocked, and he very kindly reminded me of the use of N and T to get around it, for which I was grateful. That sort of help was especially helpful, because he taught me how to help myself, even for times when he (or other GMs) would not be available.

Great idea, Ablu. :)
It'll get in with the next restart.

Someone will have to update the wiki page about ManaMarket with a new picture then.

Thank you Ablu for the idea and thank you Jen to add it so quickly :)

@blackrazor
1) the topic was to inform players about what can they expect if we have the same problem we had the other night,with players deciding to stand on the bot claiming that it was fair bussiness. sure everyone opinion is welcome but the main idea was to point out that we will force players to step outside the bot tile. Most players know how to do N and T, the problem are those who pretend they are not doing anything wrong abusing the bot position and trying to fool new players to buy from them.

2) I never said you are telling what to do, I'm Saying that prsm was just informing the players about the consequences of their actions. Also I have to clarify that GMs are part of the GHP. (Devs, GMs and Admins) The only one with full authority over all of us is Platyna.

3) And we are indeed very thankful to Ablu for the idea :)

It used to be possible to @warp a character to a blocked tile (which was then trapped there). You could test doing that with ManaMarket.
  • former Manasource Programmer
  • former TMW Pixel artist
  • NOT a game master

Please do not send me any inquiries regarding player accounts on TMW.

You might have heard a certain rumor about me. This rumor is completely false. You might also have heard the other rumor about me. This rumor is 100% accurate.
