New inn/restaurant map

Post by Daytripper » 19 Sep 2006, 16:19

Hi all,

I've started to create a new inn/restaurant map. It is quite big compared to the current inn but there are about 100 seats and I figure that's not too many for a restaurant. I still need to add some more plants/food and stuff but it is basically done. Any feedback?

EDIT: I decided that it was far too big so I shortened it and added a carpeted walkway, I also plan on adding some bedrooms. Is there anywhere that this can be used in the game?

looks good. maybe there could be a menu that a player could order from, and based on the dish they order, the player gets health back.

So is there any point in continuing this, or will I just be wasting my time?

Discuss it in IRC, that's the best place to get it some attention that matters.

I'd say we first need a suitable place for this map, I guess there's some empty building in Tulimshar we can use though. But this map is too big in my opinion, it would look too empty when we have not so many players or npcs to fill it with.

i agree, there's no need or use of map this large.. YET
I also think that tileset could use some change or we should create brand new "inn" tileset, couse to have in every city the same looking inn different just in matter of size or layout is boring imho....

No worries, I was really just playing around with Tiled to see how it works. I agree that it's too large for any use ATM, I would like to help out with a useful map though now that I know my way around Tiled.

I assume Xartune is where maps are needed but where should I start?

I think the inside of an inn should look pretty much the same (tile-wise) as the rest of the houses/buildings in that town from the inside. So for the Xartune inn we should use the Xartune interior tileset.

Design is great but personnaly i think the idea of a restaurant is stupid (like the barbershop and the casino). It isn't realistic. Why don't create a supermarket, a disney land !!

That 's just my opinion, i don't like games that mix all and anything.

We already have INN in Tulimshar...but maybe in the snow village?
