I am making a bot

Got something on your mind about the project? This is the correct place for that.

I am making a bot

Post by Saphy » 13 Nov 2006, 21:35

Hi people,

I am making a bot that will follow player and kill monsters nearby if he/she pays me gold. What do you think about this?

I dislike this idea.

What would be the point?
Your bot would get exp and you'd get money.

What would they get out of it?
The stuff dropped I suppose.

Also you'd have to get a char up to a decent level before your bot could be any help to some one.

A bot does sound cool, but unfair as it can exploit any weakness in the game.

I hope that wasn't to harsh.

So an automated mercenary? Seems kinda advanced for the age of TMW!

Reminds me of the movie, "West World". lol

I like the idea of automated NPCs, yet I think a player controlled by a program is different. Though allowing the latter stimulates developing the first.
There are mixed feelings about this topic throughout the team though.

Monsters are to be killed by players not by bots. In short, bad idea.

I see. Just see if anyone like that idea. I don't want to turn on my computer all night afterall anyway. And yes, the players will get to get the drops, maybe I should just make a trade BOT instead, that trade like 10 maggot slim for 1 bug leg, 40 scropis sting for 1 red scropian stinger, 5 purple present for a blue, 20 blue for a green, etc...

For trade BOT, it doesn't kill a thing.

D2ARCHER, stop throwing accussations, I am tired of this. And about you Saphy, in my opinion, if you can do graphics or code, you should focus on to make something useful for the project, we generally don't need bots.

I got carried away from coding, sorry about that. I am not a talented programmer by any means, and I should definitely sleep more. After I am done with a few more pixel arts, I will see if I can make better music as well as minimaps. Thanks for the enlightenment.

Well, your work will be surely more appreciated than bot making, in fact, it will be very appreciated. Thanks in advance for contributions.
