More Dyeables?

Post by Jinkers »

OK so I finally noticed the Silk Pants can't be dyed and so I spent a half-hour setting those up for dyeing.

Can anyone think of any other items that Selim should be able to dye but can't?
Only other I can think of is the Winter Gloves, but they are another reskin of the Cotton Gloves so aren't quite as simple to just recolour... Or maybe they are that simple and we just let them be identical when dyed.

Huge Jinkers W!

I would love to see the Lazurite Robe being dyeable… whether it would make sense, I don’t know, but everyone being forced to use the very light-blue robe, even dark mages, it just doesn’t fit, y’know?

Oh yeah! Hello even mentioned that one already in the gloves thread. It's on the list, but if I'm correct that one also needs at least a slight rework - preeeetty sure it uses the Sorcerer's Robe graphics.

Guess who got bored again? Reverted the base colour to silk white, made a few tweaks and...

Sorcerer robe (orange band) - for comparison

And a few icon tweaks.

The name containing 'Lazurite' (being the 'blue' mineral in Lapis Lazuli) does mean blue kinda needs to feature somewhere in the design... For this draft I've gone with the robe interior being a set dark blue and featuring a blue stone on the waist cord but I'm open to other ideas.

For me the Laz robe is a unique item and should not be dyable you know if you start this ppl will soon demand their fancy pink bull xD. I guess it should instead of a quick and dirty sorcerer robe dye mod like the oldtimers did something really unique looking not dyable, I imagine some full lazul crystal look like lazul crystals aligned somehow like a scale mail does it and all in the colors like lazul crystals have it maybe even lazul crystal spikes towering on the shoulders and a jagged hem.

I don't like how laz robe looks "now" in TMW. It makes high level mages looking all same, and, in fact, like lab workers or doctors - its stupid IMO. "Lesser" commonly used robes have variety of colors - it really adds up to TMW, bringing diversity of look, allowing players to match their preferred appearance (e.g. wiz hats got different colors, boots also dyeable, now also gloves, so robe is outlier).

RN high level players forced to look all the same - and it IMO regresses TMW visual appearance without any good underlying reason. Illia been good in many regards. But as one of byproducts it degrated "visuals" of high level mages, making appearance of mages worse, for the sake of stats. Note, "better" and "worse" are subjective when it comes to visuals, but loss of diverse players look and ability to match style is "objective" regression IMO. I think Sorcerer robe had cool idea to also make lining color selectable. As comparable idea maybe laz robes can, dunno, have e.g. tiny stars pictured on it, or so, perhaps also selectable color, pushing Sorc robe idea further? This obviously a bit more complicated on techncal layer and arts.

In fact, all this can bring extra benefits to TMW. Lore-wise it possible to say e.g. Lazurite is exotic item that needs exotic mats and processes to dye it - giving plot for some new set of quests. TMW currently lacks quests for high level players past Lv 90 - such questline can at least somewhat amend this problem.

Actually warriors can atm choose from several armors of different look and there's even black armor. Fact nobody implemented quest to dye armor black is another story. As such it can be yet another high level quest. Perhaps set in perilous area and less boring compared to "bring me 20 rat tails" approach.
