I don't like how laz robe looks "now" in TMW. It makes high level mages looking all same, and, in fact, like lab workers or doctors - its stupid IMO. "Lesser" commonly used robes have variety of colors - it really adds up to TMW, bringing diversity of look, allowing players to match their preferred appearance (e.g. wiz hats got different colors, boots also dyeable, now also gloves, so robe is outlier).
RN high level players forced to look all the same - and it IMO regresses TMW visual appearance without any good underlying reason. Illia been good in many regards. But as one of byproducts it degrated "visuals" of high level mages, making appearance of mages worse, for the sake of stats. Note, "better" and "worse" are subjective when it comes to visuals, but loss of diverse players look and ability to match style is "objective" regression IMO. I think Sorcerer robe had cool idea to also make lining color selectable. As comparable idea maybe laz robes can, dunno, have e.g. tiny stars pictured on it, or so, perhaps also selectable color, pushing Sorc robe idea further? This obviously a bit more complicated on techncal layer and arts.
In fact, all this can bring extra benefits to TMW. Lore-wise it possible to say e.g. Lazurite is exotic item that needs exotic mats and processes to dye it - giving plot for some new set of quests. TMW currently lacks quests for high level players past Lv 90 - such questline can at least somewhat amend this problem.
Actually warriors can atm choose from several armors of different look and there's even black armor. Fact nobody implemented quest to dye armor black is another story. As such it can be yet another high level quest. Perhaps set in perilous area and less boring compared to "bring me 20 rat tails" approach.
