Around how many updates will there be before MW is on the new server (estimated)? Is MW getting ready to switch over soon or is it going to be awile with many more updates to this server? Thanks.

At the moment the new server is far from being finished. There will most likely be a lot of client updates before we switch. How many is difficult to say.
