Killing by moving

Why can't I kill by moving while others can?

I currently fight with a dagger.
I had a bow once, and I could hit faster by moving around the monster step by step.
Not any more (with the dagger).

Is that ok?

I had a weird dagger bug thing like that happen to me too, but it wore off after a while I think...

The fast attack thing only works good with the Scythe and Bows. So you can't really do it well with the Dagger. That's your problem. You need a Scythe or one of the Bows.
