That's much better - number 4 makes me think it's a shovel. Again I haven't understood why yet.

I was carrying a shovel I'd either have it (on the shoulder, and behind the head) or (in one hand, at waist-height, pointing in the Z-axis of this sprite).

Try a lighter gray for the metal part of the shovel and put some dirt on it.
