ToDo list for TMWServ Beta

Post by Crush » 26 Sep 2009, 16:43

When we really want to make a TMWServ beta before the end of the year like some of you are planning there are still a couple of very important problems which need to be solved first. I created a todo list on the wiki:
http://wiki.themanaworld.org/index.php/ ... MWServTodo

Developers: Feel free to add points to these lists you consider necessary for the beta.

Non-Developers: Please consult a developer before adding something to it.

Please do not send me any inquiries regarding player accounts on TMW.

*sigh*

1. actually play TMWServ before posting here
2. notice that the feature you want to suggest already exists!
3. notice that there are issues which are actually important

Then please try TMWServ again, verify the importance of the problems I mentioned and when you still think that there are entries in that list which are unimportant or when you think that there are important things missing feel free to post again (with proper explanation which and why). Until then you do not really have the competence to help here.

When you have neither the background knowledge about the project to know where to find this information yourself nor the technical expertise to do what you have to do for it you are unlikely to have the knowledge and expertise to contribute something constructive to this topic either ;)

Compile the TMWServ client.
Setup TMWServ (http://wiki.themanaworld.org/index.php/ ... p_a_server).

I would like to see "graphic guidelines" (http://wiki.themanaworld.org/index.php/ ... Guidelines) to be added. While this is not really required for a "TMWserv Beta", I do think it is a good idea to have finished guidelines before people start contributing stuff for TMWserv.

I agree with EJlol that we should do it properly this time around, not only with graphics but also with audio, scripting and translations.
  • Music and SFX guidelines (both need some tender care, imho)
  • Scripting guidelines (non-existing currently, and the very language itself needs to be tweaked, imho)
  • Translation guidelines (needs a major overhaul, imho)
I’ve been meaning for quite some time to make proposals for the latter two...

Hi Ces,

 I hope I won't overpass my permission level, but as far as I know, you've been a attentive reporter in Mantis,
at many levels, bringing also some improvement proposal into the translation side of the project, and other things I just forgot...

Maybe then, you should start making a reference about it, or improving the current one(s) taking freely what you think is right, at first.
The rest of team would then be able to put correction's requests upon something existing much more easily.
I'm not forcing you, no offences intended. I'm just thinking loudly you're one that could do the job.

Hi,

Also, Eljol made something about guidelines:
http://mantis.themanaworld.org/view.php?id=468

Those seem to need improvement, though.

But it should be a good start.

most of the debug info in the client is still pending movement.

I am sure Bertram will remove them when he has movement done.

Hi Kage,

Yes, I will.

The movement process is coming slowly but surely:
- My next patch will move monster and being logic into the Net::BeingHandler for eAthena.
- Then, I'll move the player logic.
- then, the localplayer logic, ...

I planned to commit my patch step by step in order not to screw up things, as it happened after resolving the conflicts with newer commits in my local repository. :?

Anyway, I got the spirit of this, and I hope to bring you a polished being class with working movement for both protocol, soon.

Regards.
