Slicer banned (including alter egos kinwa and lamb)

Post by Bjørn »

I've banned Slicer for spamming the server with characters and spamming a number of players out of the game using whispers.

Since he also plays under kinwa and lamb, these characters were also banned.

Proof of character spamming the server: http://pastie.org/private/96cfh20qt0z65zsth6t2vq
(that IP was also blocked)

The discussion about why Slicer has been unbanned has been moved to Player Talk since this is not a discussion forum. Feel free to discuss it there.

I know whatever I post about this is going to be ignored since I have yet to see any kind of TPTB to listen to the users but somehow I have to make my voice heard...

Botting must and should always (without any exceptions) be punished with a deletion of said characters and any alter egos. What kind of message do you think you convey to your userbase if you do not unGMless GMs can come up with something more than "he's unbanned because he said he will not do it again"? GMs can make exception to the rules. Sure. But a ruling should always be fair. And this sounds like anything but.

To me it sounds like favourtism, Slicer being a real life acquaintance of 1 or more GMs resulting in favouritism. Slicer might not be... but I am not going to believe anyone claiming it otherwise, now am I? The MMORPG world is full of botters that claim the most absurd things happening to them when they got warped to an inspection area. And all Slicer said "I will not do it again"!? Sorry but this is not even getting close to being a fair ruling.

Letting someone bot, get caught and reinstated with all the spoils from said botting ... No. Just a plain NO.
Remove/reset his char and items and let him start over? OK I can accept a GM not enforcing the standard ruling on that. Even a small "stats resetted, items removed" would then suffice.
But letting Slicer keep all the items gathered from botting? Any GM worth his/her salt should see that this is just wrong.

So why not reset the char and delete the items? If anything it would give Slicer a chance to start proving his word by investing time in this game.

MD. This is not a discussion forum. Please post all conversation on the LOCKED topic on the player section.

You have to understand. 9 good people left because of slicer.

And they want you to leave to.

If you have not gotten the message. THEY DO NOT WANT YOU HERE.

Slicer had not been banned for botting but for other reasons that can be found in the logs.

If Slicer posted some sort of public apology or explanation for his previous behavior, it would probably go a long way towards restoring confidence in him. I would gladly and sincerely accept any such apology.

Until then, it's hard to assume that the leopard has changed his spots, and his unbanning would seem to be a pretty obvious act of favoritism. (Almost all bannings that have happened here have been for behavior far less damaging than that of Slicer.)
