Okay I got right excited tonight finally getting 450% + flawless magic only to find out my attack spells lightning / flar do half the damage now and the number of casts also seems to be cut in half....
So my question is
WTF?!?

that sucks. i juststarted a new char just for magic. i have to say though that something needed to be done because mages and archers have a distinct advantage versus straight forward hackers and slashers

wow if you actually played all the classes you wouldn't say that. It is the other way around. Archers and now mages suck ass vs warriors. The only thing Archers are better at is hunting low level monsters (bats / squirrels). Mages were still pretty much confined to the mine zapping skulls, while warriors own the gy.
As a warrior I was able to lvl my character 10 times as fast than a mage or archer. Infact when I want to gain some lvls I am often forced to play as a warrior.
And now... well now mages are completely worthless with the main attack spell gone to Chocolate Cupcake. Buying an ore for 6-10k for four zaps at 200-300 damage is just a waste of money or a waste of time spending hours just to hunt a few.

Because at least war magic makes little sense in current state. Let's say now you virtually can't kill a skull at level 79. Lightning does 200 damage or so and only ~3 lightnings per iron powder pile. That's some ~8 piles to kill one skull. Since transmutation magic also halved it's power, this means 2 iron ores have to be spent. Good luck in getting 2 iron ores by killing slimes within a time frame needed by level 79 warrior to kill the skull. This makes war magic useless due to sucking efforts vs results ratio. Same applies to most of transmutations spells also: you can use NPCs with a better conversion ratios. And how it's useful if level 79 mage with int=99 and magic XP overflowed far beyond level 3 requirements (i.e. you virtually can't be a better mage in gameright now) still have to visit NPCs rather than use magic skills?i wrote:Explain why should we fix that?Amuk wrote:Is it going to be fixed? xD
So, before asking strange question maybe you should try to play as role in question and get idea how it feels on your own? Right now I have no idea how mage can play TMW without resorting to being half-archer or half-warrior, etc. Right now mages are pretty useless. At least war and transmutation magic for sure..

Current magic shouldn't be too effective against higher level monsters and players. Remember, less than half of the planned levels have been released.

Absolutely. And as for me, it's completely fair if you would reduce power of level 2 spells at some point (please do not forget to reduce their cost also so noobs can have more fun earlier).Current magic shouldn't be too effective against higher level monsters and players. But if you reduce level 2 spell power, please provide level3 (or higher) spells or other ways to compensate this at same time. Otherwise it would be unpleasant surprise for players. Putting announce is also a good idea. Else people would be unhappy and that's at very least predictable.

will archer's damage be reduced? if magic will be reduced then it will become unwanted
in perspective, an archer can hit 2 X 300's with high dexterity/agility making it twice as effective as the new lightning
