Personally, I don't ever see it happening. The game hopefully will hit off big, but multipul servers? Doubtful.
And if there were multipul servers over the globe then who is to maintain these servers?
I doubt anyone would like to shell out the money to travel as often as would need be done.
Regards,
First of all, current server that hosts TMW (among other projects) costed over $4000, add to this power, connectivity etc. and it is still nothing comparing to the amount of money spent to host, for example
http://www.kernel.org, so don't say people are not willing to spent money for non profit or/and open source initiatives.
And about travelling around the globe etc. you are showing your blatant unawareness of server platfroms and their management. Alot of companies, including commercial ones, are hosting servers all over the globe without the need to travel to them, KVM over Net can be found in the smallest data centers, not telling that even lowest end, cheap servers has the management module which works independently from the operating system and allows you to power off/on/reboot, gives the access to server console over the Internet or management network - exactly like you would have terminal attached directly to it - and many other, useful functions, also worth mentioning is on-site staff supporting even the cheapest dedicated servers, who will insert you a CDROM or switch cables.
So, before you are being doubtful, make sure your doubts are build on a solid base.
Regards.
