I agree with Shaili (a.k.a. tds) that fixing the attack bug has changed the dynamics of the game, and the desirability of certain character attributes. I actually think this is positive for the game. Closing the Casino Bug (Which I was never even aware of) will slow the inflationary pressure on buying and selling rares between players (which is the real player economy).

I am against a total wipe as it does not really resolve the economic problems, but reduces everyone back to the start.

What is needed at this point in the economy are measures to reduce the amount of player money.

Now some players, such as myself, came by our money by honest means of hard work killing monsters, collecting drops and selling them to the NPCs or occasionally giving them to newbies needing some help. I have accumulated about 570k across 3 characters on two accounts since mid January. My daughter probably has another 100k over 3 characters on one account much of which i gifted to her.

I would not be against the admins wiping any excess of accounts with more than 50k as a once only emergency measure.

But really, mechanisms need to be implemented to take money out of the game through money sinks. Whether they are there permanently or just added periodically is really up to the moderators. These are what should be experimented with at this point in time.

Lets save the total wipe for the move to the new TMWserver. By then, maybe, there will be a number of different money faucets and drains that we will have experimented with in the game to make the player economy more realistic and complex.

Actually Platyna, just to contradict you, All my characters and my daughter's characters are melee warriors, not archers, although we both used the attack bug once we did the scythe quest. One of my chars got to Level 40 before I realised how to use the attack bug.

I don't really mind what you do, but a total wipe at this stage will probably be very disappointing for my 7 year old daughter and myself.

And all these people are like 0.5% of TMW player population.

And closing the attack bug has put archers at more of a disadvantage than melee fighters, would you say? So an impetus to change char attributes if not too high a level, or even create new characters better suited to life without the attack bug?

Platyna wrote:People...read what is posted here, you will be able to get all items that you already have, old "rares" will be reintroduced in new quests so you will have them without paying 1M and they will be still rare, since the part of quests will be closed, so you will have the same opportunity as the old players had to get nice items.

Regards.
I think you don't really understand the meaning of the rares which are currently in the game.

They are status symbols.

They are a memento of past events.

They show how long you are a tmw player.

They show how dedicated you have been to TMW over all the years.

When you enable a way to get rares now they will mean nothing because everyone can get them and thus they say nothing about how long or dedicated you have been playing TMW.

Real Life allegory: When you would burn all the original copies of the gutenberg bible (first book ever printed in series, only a handful of copies still exist) and give everyone a perfect copy of it the copies would never have the same value of the original pieces you destroyed.

Honestly, I don't care Crush, they will be wiped out anyway earlier or later. And I thought community activity means how much the player is dedicated not a bunch of pixels in his inventory.

Maybe you don't care but I am sure the players care considering the prices people play ingame for completely useless items which were given out in past events.

I may agree with decreasing everyones level to 15, wipe of all items and decrease money to 10k, even I don't like it.

I have to say after playing with out the speed attack it is a vary different game but I still find it enjoyable. When debating something in my head I like to look at the opposing view. After much though all I can come up with is that this is a difficult decision be tween game balance and players happiness. In the end someone has to make that hard choice and there is all ways a price to be paid for it. So in the end I say do what you feel you have to do. Though I think there will still have to be rebalancing issues for some of the newer maps.

And I am repeating one more time - you will get your rare items back, and they will be rare, you will win them in quests or in contests but you will have them back. ;)

And I repeat it one more time: They will be worthless when obtained through these means.

Most rares are useless fluff items anyways (what good is a dark crystal now?)
Just a pointless way to show off and over price things

Actually people just can't realize, we don't care about balancing eAthena server, since it is technicaly impossible (money duping bugs etc.). Elven, Bjorn, me and later Crush did everything what is possible to make it at least "playable".
Kind of find it funny that she is now worrying about it now, does anyone else see any hypocrisy here? Now she is talking about penalizing people when she didn't care about it before? Look, the bottom line is this, if you punish people for taking advantage of something that your own server provided your going to end up with pissed off people. If you punish people for being honest..... well, your going to end up with pissed off people. Bottom line is, your ending up with a lot of pissed off people. Now I wonder, can you drop it?
