Both, absolutely need some form of magic and healers
The State can have magic, but weaker magic and only the basic essential spells. Likewise the Rebels can have bows, but inferior bows of lower quality and less training in their use. As for healing perhaps the State can have lots of healing potions.

Yes, But I feel that it should be extremely hard for even a group of high lvl chars to make it in and out alive. Guard NPCs, human PKers, etc...
Yes, I wasn't so sure that would work. Probably best to leave it out.

I can't program and I'm a pretty bad pixeller but I can compose music and help to write and design the branch.

It would take a large raid, to get in and out of the opposing factions capital...

BTW, I can't program too.. 8) (but its nice to have a musician)

Good job we have an engine already. We'll leave the programming up to the TMW team.

 that is true, for now I should focus on making the tilesets, monsters, player sprits, etc...

I don't see a difference, but I am pretty drunk right now, so I might just overlook it.

Maybe you should launch a new homepage to design and discuss your branch?
  • former Manasource Programmer
  • former TMW Pixel artist
  • NOT a game master

Please do not send me any inquiries regarding player accounts on TMW.

You might have heard a certain rumor about me. This rumor is completely false. You might also have heard the other rumor about me. This rumor is 100% accurate.

If you're going to build the world in peace first, I congratulate you for taking the correct approach.

I'm designing my own branch of TMW - entitled for now 'Project Plum' - but I really like the sound of this. The graphics you have made so far look great. I'm not much at pixelling, but I can have a go if there's anything you need done.
Mostly I'm best at thinking stuff up.
Maybe I should start a thread on PP... yeah, I'll do that. The DEVs don't seem to mind threads about other games. I mean, of course I love TMW... it is my favourite MMORPG. I just feel like doing my own thing, and PP is the incarnation of that. I have done plenty of designing, including lists of tilesets, monsters, weapons, clothes, food etc.

~refer to the thread I shall create called 'A new branch of TMW - welcome to Project Plum' for more information. (Also, len, if it had a graphics style similar to yours, because I REALLY like that, we could share, eh?)

I love this idea, I think the graphics look pretty good!
Anyway can I help? I can't really do much though. :(

I'm, if I do say so myself, good at mapping (and by mapping I don't mean with Tiled). I could, on paper or with Gimp - you choose, map out the world, including the head cities of both the State and the Rebels, the lands between, a few small towns, oceans, islands etc (I probably wouldn't map the towns - I normally do a nice-looking coastline, then add locations of towns, mountains, rivers, lakes etc). With a game like this the world probably wouldn't be very big, so the towns would of course be large circles or squares on the map. An idea I had for a simple planning map of the world is to create an image in Gimp, as many pixels by pixels as the world will be tiles by tiles. Use Grey for City, Green for Grassland, Brown for Farmland, Dark Green for Woodland, Light Grey for Mountains, Blue for Water, etc. A program could even be written for turning all this into a map by reading the colour and turning that into a tile. a 2x6 Dark Green for a tree, for example, would be replaced with a tree that size. This would be done with the same layers and names as when making a map in Tiled. Buildings would automatically be roofed and walled and all that.

~I really like those graphics you've made, but your source I LOVE - if the person who made those could art tiles for this game or mine, I would LOVE that.

The art styles for TMW and WoA are too different to share much of anything (if anything at all).
