Vista Japanese Problem

Hi.
First time posting so please be kind

My friend has been trying to play TMW on his Vista in Japanese with no success.



As you can see, the most parts are just blank squares.
It is still the same result with or without the translation files if it makes any difference.
He did create a character but it just crashes while loading the game.

Does anyone here play TMW on Vista in Eastern Asian language successfully?
Any help is much appreciated.

One more question,
Would he still need the font file replaced if he wants to run it in English?
I did a quick search before posting and I understand it runs on OS's language,
but is there any way to force it to run in English?
There are a lot of software out there which do not have Japanese language setting,
but they still run in English on Japanese OS.
I have only limited knowledge on PC so I apologize in advance if my question does not make any sense.
