P.S. That is true. But for a different reason than you listed. Even fantasies have a basis in reality. However, your "rule of cool" still applies. This is a videogame, and as such the only thing that matters is the player. If the player thinks this game is cool and fun, then we have succe...

I'm guessing for looks. A real sword built and used like that would break after a few uses, because it's essentially being used like a pick.

Falchions aren't used like that. The curve needs to be facing the other way. Now, if it were a Falcata, then the way it's swung would make sense.

Got the sound card working, sort of. For some strange reason, the "headphone" channel is being treated as the primary audio channel. Oh well. The song seems pretty good, and I agree with Elven Programmer. The song would go well with the Mushroom Forest.

I'm having the same problem. It's looking for a file called "toString.h", but that file is actually named "tostring.h" To fix the problem, open up the file "src/gui/skill.cpp", and look for the include for toString.h The file should be on or near line 39. Change "t...

I would like to know what this song sounds like, but at the moment my new computer's sound cards (integrated and PCI) are not working.

Well, since the whole thing's going to get an overhaul, I'll just use this as practice. Dabe, I agree with you on the mushrooms. I'm going to experiment with my original mushroom, and make a bigger version of it. Then I'll redo my smokestack mushroom and the puffballs, and perhaps experiment with ne...

I've actually got a campaign setting that I'm developing for my BESM group. It's a psionics and supernatural-heavy steampunk setting, with some traditional fantasy elements.

Well, the problem with that is that the game is open source. A person could just edit the particle definition files so that they don't do anything. The monster hallucination thing would be easier, since the server could just be modified to send false monster data to the client of a hallucinating cha...

Well, the north and south sections are relatively complete, but still open for changes. They can actually be added in to the game now, but I would wait so that I can make some more refinements. And so that I can finish the spore cave. I'm still open to ideas at this point, as well as new and/or impr...

I'll continue working on the Mushroom Forest, then. And once it is released, I'll probably continue to refine it.

BTW: Those graphics are pretty impressive. Looks like they were drawn by hand.

I'm still unconvinced about the quality of the mushrooms and the cave itself, I would rather everybody be concentrated on finish them instead of been trying to mapping any yet. But is just my opinion ;) Well, if that is so, then I'll consider this practice for my mapping skills. I'm not too fond of...
